Shanghai is the largest city in People's Republic of China. It is administered as a municipality with provincial-level government status. Shanghai is one of the most important economical, financial, informational centers of China. Shanghai's agriculture is based mainly on the production of grain with comprehensive development of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery. In 2011, Shanghai’s GDP rose by 8.2% over last year, per capital GDP topped the first place among all the provinces in China. According to preliminary assessment, Shanghai’s GDP achieved 1,919.5 billion yuan in 2011. Of which, added value of tertiary industry was 1,111.106 billion yuan, rose by 9.5%, about 57.9% of its GDP.
