Tianjin is the largest open city along the coastline in northern China. The city is administered as a municipality with provincial-level status. Tianjin is located in the economic centre of Bohai Bay Rim area with automobile and machinery, electronics, chemical industry, metallurgy as its four pillar industries. Textile and food processing are Tianjin’s traditional dominating industries, whereas the outputs of TV set and caustic soda rank top five in the country. Tianjin’s GDP totaled 1119.099 billion yuan in 2011, rose by 16.4% over 2010. Of which, the increasing value of first industry was 15.9 billion yuan with a growth of 3.8%; second industry was 587.8 billion yuan with a growth of 18.3%; and tertiary industry was 515.4 billion yuan with a growth of 14.6%.
